Tonight will begin with a screening of Tilly Shiner’s 30 minute 8mm short Blackwater Mouth Tollesbury Creek Jumping Ladz – a mud-splattered love letter to Essex. It will be followed by the main feature, Alexander Mackendrick’s Sweet Smell of Success (1957), starring Burt Lancaster – “a cracklingly cruel dispatch from the kill-or-be-killed wilds of 1950s Manhattan” – Criterion.com
