AYANNA WITTER-JOHNSON

Ayanna Witter-Johnson is a vocalist, cellist, pianist, songwriter and composer. Nominated for a 2012 MOBO Award, she is a performer of extraordinary versatility and her live shows are intimate journeys that chronicle her experience as a woman in the 21st century.

Since releasing her debut recording, Truthfully-, produced by Marc Mac (4Hero) Ayanna has toured the UK and several countries in Europe,

featured on many BBC Radio Stations including Women’s Hour and The Forum alongside Jean Binta Breeze and recorded one of those featured songs with the world renowned Kronos Quartet. Ayanna has also collaborated with Akala and Riz MC, co-writing songs for their latest releases as well as performing alongside Omar, Gwyneth Herbert, Sam Carter and Natty.

Last year, Ayanna was invited to join Anoushka Shankar’s band for the worldwide tour of her latest album release ‘Traces of You’ feat. Norah Jones and continues to do so. This year she culminated a residency as composer on the first LSO Soundhub scheme and has recently released her second EP Black Panther to rave reviews from The Independent, The Huffington Post, MTV and SoulBounce amongst others.

VOICE TRIO

Voice, the unique London based a cappella trio explores repertoire that is diverse while being complementary: performing works by Hildegard of Bingen and other early masters; traditional songs and arrangements from around the world; and contemporary compositions.

In 2013, they launched their debut album Musical Harmony: a carefully crafted selection of songs defining Voice’s distinctive sound, which includes six pieces by established British composers, which the trio commissioned. “…a stunning body of work destined to prick up the hairs on the back of one’s neck” Tim Hughes (Oxford Times & Mail).

Voice is a regular collaborator with composers, musicians, artists, and poets. Over the years, they have devised and commissioned a number of unique and exciting projects.

Voice have performed at festivals across the UK and in Europe. In 2013 they made there debut performance in Bucharest as part of EUROPAfest, in Brussels at La Chappelle de Verre, and in the USA with Baylin Artists Management. In the run up to their debut US tour, Voice received funding from Arts Council England to perform at APAP NYC.

In February 2015 Voice will return to USA for their second tour.
