Jamboree welcomes the popular London clubnight Des Was a Bowie Fan to a 3am party that brings together mystery modal music from the Mediterranean and Arabic worlds, Balkan brass, Indiepop, Garage Punk, 60s girl groups, rock’n’roll and Hot Swing.

The night runs as follows:

8.30 – 9.15: Duo Labrax perform ancient and modern music from all over the Mediterranean; Medieval Spain and Italy, Ottoman Greece and Turkish and Arabic cultures.

9.30 – 10.30: The 12-piece behemoth Op Sa! Balkan Band blaze a trail of tainted brass love, playing lustrous, ferocious and beautiful songs with roots in the Serbian Kolo and Turkish Cocek.

10.30 – 3am: Des Was a Bowie Fan Clubnight
Sweet Indiepop * New Wave * Riot Grrrl * Garage Punk * Rock’n’Roll * Motown * Northern Soul * Klezmer * Balkan Brass * Hot Swing *
“The Supremes and The Ramones interspersed by the Balkan brass of Beirut and the fiery violin ballads of Félix Lajkó; Elvis, Buddy Holly and Richie Valens swinging along with the sweet heartbreak of Sister Wynona Carr and Kim Weston; the Sheffield, Glasgow and Durham soul of Pulp, Belle and Sebastian and Martha merged with Django Reinhardt’s Gypsy swing and Omar Souleyman’s ecstatic Kurdish and Arabic beats; the poetic London counter-cultural lustre of Hefner and Veronica Falls smooching with King Oliver and His Creole Jazz Band, Gogol Bordello and The Turbans; and Johnny Cash, Jonathan Richman and Sam Cooke twisting the night away alongside Palestinian hip hop band DAM and The Yiddish Twist Orchestra.”
