The Gator Dog Snappers met in The Spotted Cat, Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, while on US tour with various bands. Featured at EFG London Jazz festival, the Snappers enjoy busking, street performance, and fill dance floors at London’s top swing dance events. This is their new residency at Jamboree, taking place on the final Wednesday of each month.

The band’s leader and Snare Drum player spent much of 2016 in New Orleans, studying street music, snare drum and percussion with local musicians, and performing with local brass bands in countless second lines and Mardi Gras parades through the French Quarter and beyond. She is currently studying snare drum with David Henzie-Skogen of YoungBlood Brass band. The Gators regularly host visiting musicians from New Orleans in their band house in Lewisham, fuelling cross cultural exchange and building international musical networks. They are committed to street music and grass roots activism, and can regularly be found sticking it to the Tories on protests across the UK.
