The Gibraltarian master-alchemist of poetry and song celebrates the launch of his new album ‘Wound in the Night’ with a full band show, plus support from some of the most interesting songwriters and poets of the London underground.

On the night Moreno, accompanied by virtuoso pianist Ned Cartwright, Michael Collins on drums/percussion and guests from the London and Ramsgate alternative-folk/indie and Americana scene, will present songs from the new album plus some old favourites.
Gabriel Moreno is an irresistibly engaging performer, combining a Latin exuberance and passion with a rare lyrical calibre (he is also an accomplished poet, with 12 books published to date). His live show has been described as ‘Taberna Folk’ – at once both energetic and intimate, anarchic and absorbing. Moreno has thrilled audiences across South America, the USA and Europe, including recent sets at UK festivals including Wilderness, and has been championed by the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Cerys Matthews, with his sonorous baritone and poetical lyrics often seeing him compared to such luminary wordsmiths as Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and Bill Callahan.
“An offshoot of Leonard Cohen and Neil Diamond. I love it” – Cerys Mathews, 6 Music
Support will come from legends 0f the London Roots and poetry underground scene Adam Beattie, Jeremy Tuplin, Peter Doolan, Rosie Reed Gold and Dominic Silvani. They fuse poetry and lyrics with modern folk musical progressions to create a new kind of troubadour with a contemporary touch. The support slot will be a Soiree where each of these artists perform one or two of their pieces.
