Join us this Saturday night live on the Jamboree facebook page as Theo Lais and Zac Gvirtzman perform music from and around the Ottoman period, including court music written by Greek, Armenian and Jewish musicians, folkloric and trance inspired compositions and originals. To tune in, head to our main Facebook page on the night. The link will pop up on our page at around 8pm. The event is free to view but donations are very much appreciated. We will provide a link for this on the night.
Theo Lais is one of the UK’s primary exponents of the Cretan Lyra, a fretless bowed string instrument with sympathetic strings that give it it’s resonant tone. Originally from Athens, he has made London his home and has been a key member of the band at the Jamboree Cretan nights.
Zac Gvirtzman is a multi-instrumentalist and composer whose output includes a broad range of styles and musical languages. For this concert he will play clarinet, accordion, prepared piano, percussion and maybe even a bit of oud tbc!
