Malphino are a multinational cumbia band that have flown the cumbia flag in London for the last 10 years. Their inspirations come from a mix of accordion Colombian cumbia, Mexican Rebajada sound systems and Peruvian Chicha as well as Martin Denny Exotica, and cosmic organ sci fi scores. Malphino is not just a band but a place and mystical isle where everyone is welcome.

In perfect timing for Cinco De Mayo, the band release their latest EP, ‘Suenõ’. Drenched in dreamy and hypnotic melodies and tropical Afro-Latin rhythms, its 4 tracks explore the realms of past heartbreaks and loss, as well as celebrating adventures into new chapters of life in the island’s mythology, urging you to dance into nightfall to express your feelings and emotions. With journeys into genres such as Salsa and Cumbia, they put their own wonderful spin transporting you to other lands. The EP comprises 2 cumbia tracks and 2 salsa and will be released on May 5th via Lex Records.

In support, London community based collective Viento Suelto plays Colombian ancestral music from the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Gaita – Melodic flutes and hypnotic Afro percussion brings us back to roots of Cumbia and fire up the night.

And DJ Matteo DLF, a Leicester-based selector with a passion for reviving the vintage sounds of Cumbia, Chicha and Salsa, plays for the first time in London, bringing his exciting brand of tropical heat to the dancefloor.
