Merlin Shepherd is one of the world’s leading players of traditional East European Klezmer Clarinet style. For the next seven weeks he will be planting passionate and inspired Jewish music into the Jamboree pot and hosting a series of performances by London’s best Jewish music groups. The evening will continue with a jam session and dance party where you can join in the many traditional cultural dances of east European Jewish music.

HAMSA

Bringing together the music of Jewish eastern Europe, Greece and Turkey, Hamsa takes us on a journey that not only crosses continents but also takes us deep into ourselves.

Taking elements of Klezmer, Fasil and Demotika into new repertoire and using rhythms and grooves both reminiscent of the shtetl and the souk, the five musicians entice and seduce us with repertoire old and new and with technical flare and charm.

“Merlin Shepherd is Britain’s finest Klezmer clarinetist” Songlines

“A force to be reckoned with” Time Out

“He colours and shapes every phrase… providing spiritual & emotional heart” London Evening Standard
